Having a good amount of healthy bacteria living in the gut is paramount to the health of your body, and researchers have discovered that a single type of bacteria, when tested on mice, was shown to dramatically improve the health of overweight mice. This bacteria assists in altering the way in which food is absorbed, however, further tests need to be conducted on humans. Bacteria is naturally abundant in the body, but there needs to be a higher level of healthy gut bacteria to ensure that your immune system is strong and prone to fighting illness and disease. One such operation, the gastric bypass, has shown in studies to alter the levels of good bacteria that live in the gut.
