Change is a constant thing, and it’s something that we either do to ourselves or for ourselves. Whether it’s simply for a new look or for health reasons, most times change is good. Sometimes we are not looking for an overall change but simply a better choice that can and will work for our betterment.
When it comes to our diet, we are always looking for alternatives. Whether it’s from whole milk to low-fat milk, lactose cheese to non-lactose cheese, there is an alternative. So then, what about the oil we cook with? There’s sunflower oil, vegetable oil, avocado oil, peanut oil, mustard oil, palm oil and the list goes on. Is there a healthier alternative to the oil we can use to cook? The answer is a resounding yes! It’s Coconut Oil.
Coconut Oil or Extra Virgin Coconut Oil has many potent benefits. It is not chemically treated thus once used, contributes to an individual’s general health. It has a very high smoke point hence it can be used to cook with or as a substitute for butter. It is about 92% saturated fat, however it contains a unique blend of short and medium chain fatty acids making it easier to digest.
Consuming coconut oil may be a bit ghastly for some, therefore it is recommended to start by using 1-2 teaspoons a day and gradually increase to 3-4 teaspoons a day. It can be used in warm salads or as a general replacement for oil in most meals.
Not only is it good to eat but it’s also a great skin lotion or conditioner. It has a great smell and can be mixed with your favourite essence to create your own fragrant bath.
Extra Virgin Coconut oil is a healthier alternative and it is a definite change that will benefit all.
